I can still remember way back in the day when my brother and I would celebrate the fourth of July. We would have a great night of lighting fireworks in front of the house, and then relax in our air conditioned room. With a big bowl of vanilla ice cream in hand, with a bunch of vanilla cookies we'd enjoy the lights in the sky.
Tonight I'm going to Weehawken to see the fireworks. It should be a good one, since we'll be just across the river.
Today is a great day to think about, and appreciatie all the things we have in our lives. As a matter of fact, I think we should have gratitude each and everyday. Lately I've been thinking about it more than ever.
I hope everyone enjoys tonight!

Daily Guidance
Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda
Thursday, January 13, 2011:
Daily Guidance from Daisaku Ikeada. This passage really hit home for me.
A life lived without purpose or value, the kind in which one doesn't know the reason why one was born, is joyless and lackluster. To just live, eat and die without any real sense of purpose surely represents a life pervaded by the world of Animality. On the other hand, to do, create or contribute something that benefits others, society and ourselves and to dedicate ourselves as long as we live to that challenge—that is a life of true satisfaction, a life of value. It is a humanistic and lofty way to live.
